MUSICOUNTS LEARN TOWN HALLS
MusiCounts Learn hosts Town Halls to support music educators and stakeholders as they innovate and adapt to ever changing circumstances. To make these discussions more accessible, we have posted them below.
COVID-19: IMPROVISING AS A MUSIC EDUCATOR
Back to school this year is saturated with uncertainty and anxiety, particularly for music educators. This Town Hall aims to help teachers across Canada make sense of how to move forward in a time when there are far more questions than answers, through the lens of musical improvisation: how can you remain responsive to an ever-changing situation? How can you reflect on your own teaching and respond and improve as you go? How can you balance realities with possibilities? This Town Hall discussion will bring together four seasoned music teachers from coast to coast, to discuss tactics for maintaining meaningful music education experiences for students in an entirely unpredictable educational environment.
Inaugural MusiCounts Learn Town Hall
This conversation explores how teachers in different regions of the country are adapting to teaching music remotely, as well as what the lasting ramifications of COVID-19 might mean for music education once schools reopen. This discussion was moderated by MusiCounts’ Nick Godsoe.
