In Memory of Steven Diver

May 30, 1952 to August 16, 2020.

Born (May 30,1952) and raised in Port Credit, ON, Steve Diver was always passionate about music. Drawn to the guitar, he was mostly self-taught, determining the chords by ear. Starting in the basement of their family home, Steve and his brothers would play guitar and drums for hours. Although they did not perform together much past public school, the siblings continued their music trivia rivalry.

Steve's guitar playing skills developed over time and he started focusing more on his love of blues music genre, more specifically, Texas blues style. After moving to Thornbury, ON in 1986, he enjoyed playing lead guitar in a rock band, aptly named the Steve Diver Band, performing at local events. Although he didn't have any formal training of his own, Steve understood the impact music can have in one's life, having experienced it himself; it was always something he could get lost, revel and take comfort in.

Steve passed suddenly on August 16th at the age of 68 and is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darlene, daughter Laurie (Tim), son Tom, siblings Bob (Terry), Richard, Cathy Barber (Terry), sister-in-law Deanna (Ken) and predeceased by brother-in-law Spencer (Deborah). Remembered fondly by nieces, nephews and their families.

To honour his memory, we welcome donations to support Canadian youth music programs so his legacy might live on in sound.
