CORY POPIUK, March 22, 1978 - May 12, 2019.

Passion, exuberance and heart. Three words that anyone who had the honour of knowing Cory would agree described him best.

Whether it be music, hunting wild mushrooms, cooking gourmet food, festivals, visiting a new city, love for the colour green, shuffle board tournaments or his most recent venture a juicing company with his sister. He put his heart and soul into each and everything he touched. He had an energy that will be missed by us all.

A knack for connection and business was his legacy, and a footprint in the music industry was his claim. He did so with love and relatability that left anyone in the presence of his big green heart a little bit warmer and most definitely with a few more laughs than they’d had before.

Having worked in numerous facets of the music industry from artist relations to event execution, his ability to see someone’s potential, help them in any way he could and celebrate with them when they’ve reached it was an intangible trait that is rare to come by.

Music and children were two of the most important parts of Cory’s life. Because of this, his family has formed a relationship with MusiCounts to honour his legacy and bring together these two elements. Cory would take great pride in knowing that through this program and in his name, his friends and family helped to inspire the next Brett Kissel, Dallas Smith, Headstones, Default, Tupelo Honey, Touchtone Gurus or Amy Metcalf.
