The MusiCounts Scholarship is an annual post-secondary program that helps launch the careers of high-potential individuals who are graduating from post-secondary studies in music performance, business or production. Each year MusiCounts brings the recipient students to Toronto for an intensive mentorship week where they engage with industry leaders from companies such as eOne Music Canada, Spotify, Strut Entertainment, University of Toronto, JUNO Awards, Roland Canada, SiriusXM and more.
MusiCounts is able to bring the Scholarship recipients like Jack Thomas from Nimbus School of Recording and Media to Toronto for this unique opportunity thanks to Aeroplan. Learn more about Jack’s experience during the 2018 MusiCounts Scholarship Mentorship Week below.
MusiCounts is a charity partner of Aeroplan and donated miles are helping us inspire the next generation of music industry leaders. From June 10 -16 any Aeroplan Miles donated to MusiCounts will be matched by Aeroplan up to 500,000 miles.

My entire life has revolved around music. When I lost my arm, I thought my whole life was over. I thought every goal and dream I had in having a musical career and helping my family was impossible for me to reach. Instead, I pushed myself harder than I thought was humanly possible and re-learned how to do everything in my life, including brand new things like music production. Now I’m ready to show the world what I’m made of; to prove to myself and everyone that despite my major physical disability, I can be a successful, cutting edge musician, audio engineer, and producer.
The MusiCounts Scholarship mentorship week exceeded my expectations ten-fold. It was a very interactive and engaging week filled with multiple opportunities. The networking sessions gave me the chance to speak with industry professionals to gain greater insight on the music world. As an aspiring audio engineer and producer, the Coalition Music tour and session was very informative. It taught me about promoting up-and-coming artists, which was helpful as I eventually want to elevate young artists by providing them with honest advice and high quality production and service. Overall, the experience was uplifting.
