JUNOS London 2019 Host Committee are taking things on the road in Ontario for professional development, showcase concerts – plus supporting music education with school visits. We were thrilled to join the Host City Music Exchange on February 7 to visit Munden Park Public School in Mississauga, a 2018 MusiCounts Band Aid Program recipient school. Thanks to instruments received via MusiCounts, Munden Park was able to create a keyboard lab and expand their music programming.
The event at Munden Park was a great opportunity for students to learn more about the 2019 JUNO Awards in London, and about the role of the Host Committee. It was also a chance to highlight the JUNOS London 2019 Host Committee’s ongoing support of MusiCounts through $1 per ticket at select London venues benefitting MusiCounts, and other fundraising initiatives. Thanks to this support, more kids will have access to instruments in their school or community.
The event at Munden Park also featured two London-area artists: country singer Julia Haggarty and rapper Casper Marcus. The two performed for students, and then came together for a collaborative performance. This was followed by a Q&A, where students got to ask questions to the musicians about their careers and music.
