Even in Canada, our music programs are often the first to go when facing budget cuts. We know the benefits of music are well established and wide-ranging. The cognitive benefits are numerous: playing music increases collaborative skills, critical thinking and can positively impact IQ scores in math and reading. In addition, playing music helps develop positive self-esteem, discipline, communication skills, and motivation.
You can help bring music back to schools today. Let’s not disadvantage our kids. Music should be a must-have in our Canadian schools, not a nice-to-have bonus. The need is great. We can fund only 1 in every 4 schools that apply for music education instrument funding.
Every dollar counts and will go towards an instrument for a student in need. By giving today, you are ensuring that kids have access to music education.
