Newfoundland rockers Great Big Sea closed the 2009 JUNO Awards broadcast this past Sunday, March 29, 2009 with an extraordinary rendition of the Led Zeppelin classic “Gallows Pole.” The band was joined on stage for this once-in-a-lifetime performance by Hawksley Workman and members of eccodek. Now, less than 48 hours after that stunning performance, iTunes have made the live recording available with proceeds from the track’s sales being donated to MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS. The track was mixed in Vancouver by noted recording engineer and producer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica, Aerosmith) who donated his services for this worthy effort.
