New holiday single 21st Century Christmas to benefit MusiCounts

9 December 2008 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comment

MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS, has been named the benefactor of the publishers’ royalties from Jaydee Bixby’s newest single, 21st Century Christmas. Bixby, who turned 18 this year, provides the perfect vocals for a song that originally peaked at No. 2 on the U.K. singles charts.

Co-written by Ralph Murphy and Paul Brady, who have written songs for artists like Shania Twain, Bonnie Raitt, and Brooks and Dunn, the single is currently available for download on iTunes. In addition, the single will be featured on the holiday compilation CD Christmas on the Open Road, which includes singles from Taylor Swift and Johnny Reid.

Hitting the airwaves in the first week of December, all royalties from 21st Century Christmas will be donated directly to MusiCounts, which helps support music programs in elementary and secondary schools across Canada. Murphy will donate his publisher’s mechanical share of the song while ole, a globally competitive, Canadian-owned, full-service music publisher, will advance $1,000 on royalties for the song to MusiCounts.
