MusiCan Fred Sherratt Award recipients announced
MusiCan, together with CTVglobemedia, announced the winners of the inaugural MusiCan Fred Sherratt Award at the Hard Rock Cafe in Toronto. Named in honour of broadcasting pioneer Fred Sherratt, the award recognizes the outstanding achievement, superb talent and leadership of 11 graduating students selected from music programs across the country. Mr. Sherratt - whose leadership roles with CHUM Limited included Executive Vice-President, COO and Vice-Chairman–presented the award to each recipient, each of whom also received a $3,500 prize and a unique opportunity to spend an educational day at MuchMusic, and at CHUM Radio.

Hard Rock Cafe’s guitar smash raises cash for MusiCan
Normally, the destruction of guitars would not be something we would condone, but on June 12th, when celebrity guests joined the Hard Rock Cafe in Toronto to smash guitars, they knew it was with good reason and for a good cause! For each guitar smashed, all of which were deemed unplayable and defective, the Hard Rock Cafe made a donation to MusiCan. This 30th anniversary celebration raised over $ 6,000 for MusiCan and was truly a smashing-good time!
